Jancee Pornick Casino
Have you ever heard of a thing like a Russian-American surf/ rock'n roll band? I guess there's only one on the planet and that's The Jancee Pornick Casino. Named after their guitarplaying singer Jancee Warnick from Portland, OR, these guys have become legendary in the retro-rock'n roll community in the last 4 years of their existence. The maniacal Torbotrous brothers from St. Petersburg and their American partner in crime share a weird but contagious sense of humor and a fondness of a wildly pounding rockabilly groove.
Proving their talents for an adrenaline-drenched performance as well as for being outstanding musicians on extended tours through Germany, France, Spain and Russia, the trio leaves one question unanswered. How do two hard-liner commies get along with an American cowpoke? They cook up some kinda gumbo (or should I say Borstsh) spiced with surf, rockabilly, 60's punk, country and elevator music served with a red-hot surf guitar by a waiter in a suit of flames. Vocals reminding of Elvis and Eddie Cochran backed up by a rhythm section in Commie uniforms, the combo conjures up their own Heartbreak Hotel out in the plains of Sibiria.
" Surprisingly the transcontinental cooperation doesn't verge into chaos but on a technical level very hard to come by among guitar bands these days." (Spex, 03/2001)
"
they certainly performed without a flaw, proved to be excellent musicians. And they tried to show us that Elvis is not only the king but also the Czar of rock'n roll." (Superpunk Magazine, Madrid, 09/2002)
