Los Walkysons
In 1999 five guys from Barcelona decided to join together to start a new band dedicated to surf and frat rock. They came from different bands and different styles such as garage, punkrock, beat and even jamaican sounds, a background that is sometimes recognizeable in their compositions, and they found a common meeting point in this kind of music. Very soon they began composing their own music and playing in local clubs in their area. in 2000, they recorded a demo that got airplay on some local radio stations and they received good reviews by the music press. In 2001 they released the first Walkysons record "Travellin' around the world", a five song E.P. on Discos Condal, a small label dedicated to 45 RPM wax. This time their music crossed the ocean and was even played in some californian radio stations dedicated to surf music and earned a great review by Phil Dirt, the instro-surf guru, Los Walkysons kept on playing throughtout 2001-2 headlining their own concerts in Spain or supporting bands like The Surfin' Lungs or Los Straijackets. Through a radio Dj. they contacted El Toro Records, which released their first album, "Hits, all their greatest & more" wich also recieved excellent reviews. Because of this they received an invitation from the mexican label Isotone Records to record a song for their compilation "Locos instrumentales around the world" wich was an overview of the world instro-surf scene. In the past year they playED international festivals like "Wipe out weekend" or "Barcelona Hayride" where they came to the attention of a foreing audience. Now their record has finally been released in vinyl by German label Kamikaze Records and one of their songs will appear on a new Isotone compilation dedicated to western movies tunes. Meanwhile, they keep on playing throughtout Spain and spreading as much fun as they can.
