Way Out West
After hundreds of gigs and thousands of miles these surf rock heroes still say: Six strings and a good Goddamn! You ask the stranger on the street or the chick from the Lee commercial, you get the same answer, Way Out West rules! Surf-rock scientist and guitarplayer Dan Cooper teaches his disciples the great myth of the rocking Way Out West-sound bypicking out bubbling notes, that hit you in the guts, while electrical sparks start filling ones head that slowly turns into a glowing lava-lamp. The earth starts shaking and the people tumbling like toy soldiers at the outburst of Vesuvio as B. B. Olsen pounds away on the heads of his drum-battery. Smooth Jimmy Apollo is leaving the people flabbergasted with his guitar licks, while Philbert D. is melting them down with super-smooth melodies. The pumping bass of surf legend Jim Blake produces giant blisters on the paintcoat of the ceiling, a Way Out West is a primal display of the powers of nature. No virgins and kids allowed in the crowd beacause the massive amount of energy cast from stage could electrify an average town for a week. Way Out West tell us how azthentic surf sound is to be done in these days. Three (mean. 03 ! ) guitars are building up a wall-of-sound that can lift you up like a wave lifts up a surfer at the Hawaiian coastline. Let that wave carry you.
