Informationen zum Artikel: After their label lastly released their 'Anthology' with Hits from 1982-2008 LES PLAYBOYS go back to the French Style with completely new song material. 14 songs wich represent the band s 60 s beat roots, a hommage to genre colleagues like QUESTION MARK & THE MYSTERIANS, THE EASYBEATS, JACQUES DUTRONIC, THE UGLY DUCKLING and SIR DOUGLAS QUINTET. 'Splash!' starts off with a wonderful cover of the motown classic Love s Gone Bad (CHRIS CLARK) wich has the typical signature sound of the PLAYBOYS. They continue to show a very versatile sound, from classic freakbeat ('La Vie Rêvée') to a psychedelic hommage to SERGE GAINSBOURGS 'Comic Strip' with the song 'Splash'. 'Elle Dit' is a merseybeat piece wich sounds like a lost BEATLES song in french while 'J ai Toujours Raison' is a memorable garage hit with a cool organ sound. 'Personne N est Parfait' combines fuzzy garage with R n B infl uences while 'Comme Une Cigarette' is a dancy song with a leading Farfi sa-organ. The album also delievers a cover of 'Putty In Your Hands' wich has already been covered by SYLVIE VARTAN in the 60 s. LES PLAYBOYS do more of an rocky version with their own lyrics. Stylistic and charming 'Splash!' is a must have for fans of the genre!
